While most allow the service user to post their own ads, they will also place ads from other businesses at random on the site and the type of web site you host may not be amenable to all types of advertising. Companies and individuals who do not want other advertisers to show up on their site may want to look into some of the cheap web hosting companies that allow them to own their own slice of cyberspace.

For families wanting a personal web site on which to post information about births, family reunions and other personal information, free web hosting may be the best option. They can keep all members of the family updated on what is going on without needing to pay to host their web site, including pictures. Many also offer blogs where any member of the family can add to the information included on the free web hosting site.
